"It's about living with dignity in public space"

A Biking While Black Mobility Justice Panel from September 25, 2025

From August through October, we toured around Los Angeles County with this series in partnership with Los Angeles County Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI), screening of our film, Biking While Black, and engaging in rich, challenging, and powerful conversations with mobility justice leaders around our community.

On September 25th we gathered at Temple City Library with Damon Turner from LA Bike Academy, John Yi from Abundant Housing LA and a former candidate for the California State Assembly, and Duke Choi from Asian Pacific Islander Forward Movement.

We had an incredible conversation that centered around the question of how we create a community where we can exist in public spaces safely and with dignity.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing clips from more of our panel discussions on Instagram and Facebook.

About the Series

This series is brought to you in partnership with Los Angeles County Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI).

On November 16, 2021, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the motion authored by Supervisors Solis and Hahn, Decriminalizing Mobility Through Implementation of the Vision Zero Action Plan. In response to this motion, the Chief Executive Office, through LA County’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative, developed and released a Decriminalizing Mobility Report that detailed recommendations the County could take to amend its ordinances, mitigate the impact of law enforcement stops, and provide resources to advance equity in mobility.

This culminated in a second motion authored by Supervisor Solis and adopted on August 2, 2022, that directed CEO-ARDI and the County to implement those recommendations. ARDI continues to implement the recommendations detailed through a series of Report Backs to the Board.

In furtherance of this effort, we are excited to launch the Mobility Justice Series, designed to create space for dialogue, collaboration, and the elevation of community voice relevant to advancing mobility justice. Mobility justice aims to ensure everyone can move freely and safely, access essential services, goods, information, and locations by minimizing barriers due to race, ability, or other factors.
